MYP Homeroom Teacher - French
Mlle. Godfrey is originally from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada where she obtained her Bachelor of Science (2012) and her Bachelor of Education (2013). She is currently working towards a Masters of Education in curriculum studies.
Mlle. Godfrey worked as a long-term supply teacher with the Anglophone South School District in New Brunswick for two years. During this time, she also worked for the New Brunswick Community College and the College of Extended Learning teaching languages. She joined ISNS in November 2015, beginning in PYP grade 2, then moving into MYP in August 2016. She is currently the head of the French department as well as the MYP French language acquisition teacher.
Mlle. Godfrey strongly believes that language classes should focus on both receptive (listening and reading) and reproductive (speaking and writing) skills. She also believes in incorporating culture into the language classroom. Such foci create well-rounded abilities and develop holistic knowledge of the target language and of the people who speak the target language. While focusing on these skills and backgrounds, it is important to create authentic and real-world experience in which students can practice the language.
