Director of Counselling
Maxine arrived at ISNS in 2015 from Saint John, New Brunswick. She received her BA and her MEd in Counselling Psychology and Career Guidance, from the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. Maxine is a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC). She is certified in Control Theory and Reality Therapy (RTC); MBTI; Critical Incident Stress Management; and is a trained facilitator.
Maxine has spent many years in the guidance and teaching field; 25 years as a Guidance Counsellor and as a Communications Instructor at the New Brunswick Community College in Saint John, New Brunswick, she has taught Grades 1-12 in the public school system and Technical Writing at UNBSJ. Maxine has also had an independent counselling practice, has served on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, of which she is a member, and the University of New Brunswick Alumni Council.
Maxine believes that she helps students become the BEST they can be and has always focussed on the “whole” person in her guidance and teaching.
Maxine has spent many years teaching internationally in projects funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) through Colleges and Institutes Canada, (formerly ACCC), in Cuba, India and Jordan. She has lived in Saudi Arabia and has travelled extensively. Maxine continues to maintain her “open door policy” for her students and colleagues in her MYP/DP Guidance Office at ISNS and is looking forward to a great year.
