Grade 5 Team Leader and Homeroom Teacher
Yaśodā Deva-Singh (Ms. Deva) has always felt that children learn best when they feel safe and when they can connect to the teacher or the topic. Her research as she pursued her Master’s Degree in International Teaching as well as her work at the Klingenstein Institute for early career teachers helped to solidify this belief. Thus, she is committed to developing meaningful relationships with her students and to fostering an environment where they feel comfortable and open to learning new things. Furthermore, she believes firmly in the power of a balanced learning experience and takes pleasure in being both a source of information for her students and a facilitator as they take part in the inquiry process.
Ms. Deva has been honing her skills as a “learning facilitator” since 2006 when she worked in Student Support Services at an international school in her native, Trinidad and Tobago. Since then, she has been an Assistant PYP Coordinator, a Grade 2 Teacher and most recently, a Grade 5 teacher and team leader in Guangzhou. She, her two daughters and husband are now happily experiencing all Shenzhen has to offer and look forward to creating lasting relationships at ISNS.
