Arts & Design Activities

Chinese Ensemble is a group where students play Chinese traditional instruments in an ensemble setting. At least 1 year experience is required – audition may be necessary. This group meets on Monday and Thursday Lunch Recess in the PYP Music room (T109). Contact Ms. Wang if interested. 

 

 Art Enrichment Club (Grades 1-2) will offer opportunities for students who want to have more independent studio time in the visual arts. Projects will vary and are based upon student interest with teacher supervision. All creative students are welcome to join but need to be committed enough to attend weekly. Materials are provided by the instructors.  There is a limit of 20 students.  This group will meet on Thursdays (11:45-12:25).  Start date is September 8th.   Please email Ms. Rodriguez by Wednesday, Aug 31st if you are interested. Contact Ms. Nicklas.

Yearbook Club (Grades 9-12) will offer opportunities for students who are interested in helping to design and create the 2016-2016 ISNS Yearbook.  We are asking for only committed students to join, and weekly attendance is required. To create the yearbook, all students involved will acquire skills in design, software (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Premiere) and Photography (using a DSLR camera). Students will also learn how to augment yearbook imagery. This club will meet on Thursday (3:30pm-4:30pm).  Start date is TBD.  Contact Mrs. Carnevale.

Beginner Band (Grades 3-5) is a group where young students can learn a new band instrument including flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, and percussion.  No previous experience is necessary.  This group has a limit of 25 available spots.  This group meets on Thursdays (11:45am-12:20am) and Mondays (3:30-5:00pm) in the DP Music room (T603)  .Contact Ms. Godkin.

Intermediate Band (4-6) is a group where students can continue learning a band instrument previously learned.  At least one year experience is required.  This group meets on Mondays (11:45-12:20am) and Thursdays (3:30-5:00pm) in the DP Music room (T603). Contact Ms. Godkin.

Concert Band (Grades 5-12) is a group where students continue playing their instrument in a challenging setting.  At least 2 years experience is required – audition may be necessary.  This group meets on Tuesday (11:45-12:20) and Fridays (3:30-5:00pm) in the DP Music room (T603). Contact Ms. Godkin.

Stage Band (Grades 6-12) is a modern music group that focusses on popular music.  Using guitars, drums, and vocals to create music that all can enjoy.  If you have formal training (at least 2 years) this could be the band for you.  This group meets Tuesdays (11:45-12:20) and Fridays (3:30-4:45pm) in the MYP Music room (T602).  Contact Mr. Boyd.

Junior Choir (Grades 1-2) is a group where young students will learn how to sing, expose their singing talents and gain self confidence. There is a limit of 30-50 students.  This group meets on Tuesdays and Fridays at lunch recess in the EY multifunction room (E104). Auditions will be held on Sept 6th and 9th.  Contact Ms. Chavez. 

Intermediate Choir (Grades 3-5) is a group where students will experience the joy and discipline involved with collaborative singing and performance.  There is a focus on two-part singing.  This group has a limit of 40 students.  This group meets on Fridays (11:15-11:45am) and Tuesdays (3:30-4:45pm) in the 5th floor Auditorium. Contact Mrs. Boyd.

Senior Choir (Grade 5-12) is a group where students continue singing in choir and develop their vocal skills. At least 1 years experience is required -- performance experience preferred. This group meets on Monday afternoon (3:30-5:00pm) and Wednesday lunch recess in PYP Music room (T109). Contact Ms. Zhang.
