Beginner Band

Beginner Band (Grades 3-5) is a group where young students can learn a new instrument. The instruments on offer are flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, and percussion. To join, previous experience is not necessary. This group has limited available spots. Beginner Band will meet on Monday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the MYP Music room (T603). 

  • Age: Grade 3-5

  • Max. # of students: 25

  • Rehearsal Schedule: Mondays @ 3:30-5:30pm

Intermediate Band 

Intermediate Band

Intermediate Band (Grades 4-6) is a group where students can continue learning a band instrument previously learned. Instruments include flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion.  Other instruments are also welcome. At least one-year experience is required. This group meets on Thursday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the MYP Music room (T603).

      Concert Band 

      Concert Band

      Concert Band (Grades 6-12) is a group where students continue playing their instrument in a challenging setting. Instruments include, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion. Other instruments are also welcome.  Acceptance is dependent on a successful audition.  This group meets on Friday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. in the MYP Music room (T603).

      Brass Express 

      Brass

      Brass Express (Gr. 6-10) is a group where students learn a brass instrument at a fast pace with the intention of advancing into the Intermediate Band or Concert Band in the 2nd Semester. This activity is a rigorous program that will require dedication from students in and outside of rehearsals.  Acceptance is dependent on a successful audition.  No prior experience is necessary.  This group meets on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. in the MYP Music room (T603).

      Percussion Ensemble

      Percussion Ensemble

      In the Percussion Ensemble, students of grades 1 and 2 will be working collaboratively in the performance of fun songs using instruments such as the handbells, hand chimes, and other pitched and unpitched percussive instruments. Students will be exposed to songs in the C major scale, whilst reading rhythms notated with standard sheet music and performance tracks. This ensemble will also develop pitch training abilities as students learn to identify notes and tunes. Spaces are limited and will operate on a first come basis. The group will meet once a week, on Tuesdays after school at 3:30pm-4:30pm in T109.

      Junior Choir

      Junior Choir

      Junior Choir aims to nurture student musicianship, build confidence, and encourage artistic expression through developmentally appropriate vocal instruction. The Children's Choir provides an ensemble experience that allows students to develop musically as individuals while contributing to the joy and artistry of singing together with their peers. We rehearse Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30p.m. in the Auditorium.

      Intermediate Choir

      Intermediate Choir

      This is an auditioned ensemble for students in grades 3-5. Students will learn about healthy singing technique, music reading, and choral performance. We will perform for various school events. Please note that acceptance is dependent on successful audition. We rehearse Tuesdays from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.

      Senior Choir

      Senior Choir

      Senior Choir is a group where students are encouraged to express their love for singing and performance in a cohesive and collaborative environment. Emphasis is placed on two and three-part singing, and development of vocal skills. No prior choir experience is necessary although previous vocal experience is beneficial.  Space is limited and students need to audition to be a part of the choir. The group meets once a week, on Tuesdays after school 3:30-5:30, in T602.

      Chinese Ensemble

      Chinese Ensemble

      Chinese ensemble for grade 3-9. Students will bring a Chinese instrument to the club that they are capable of playing. As the stage is not big enough for many large instruments, there will be a maximum of 6 Gu Zheng. Instruments include: Guzheng, Erhu, Pipa, Dizi, Ruan, Yangqin. Any other Chinese instruments are welcome! Students will learn about Chinese music and how the instruments and style are different from classical music. Students will learn how to collaborate as a group to give a performance during school events. The group meets once a week, on Monday at 3:30-5:00 in the auditorium.

      Intermediate Dance

      Intermediate dance

      Intermediate dance is a group where students are encouraged to express their love for dancing and performance. We will be focusing on some Jazz and Hip-pop. First we will do some warming up and then will do some development of basic Jazz dancing skills. No prior dance experience is necessary.   The group meets once a week, on Thursdays after school 3:30-4:30, in T601.

      Senior Dance

      Senior Dance

      Senior Dance is an activity that will introduce the students to shuffle dancing.  Students will work collaboratively and learn how to synchronize their movements with others, as well as develop their appreciation for dance. No prior dance experience is necessary.  The group meets once a week, on Mondays after school 3:30-5:00, in T601.

      Senior Theatre Arts Club

      Intermediate dance

      This club will be a fun setting for getting creative both on stage and behind the scenes. We will meet and work together for a condensed period from Oct 18 to Dec 17. The club meeting days will be Tuesdays and/or Fridays 3:40-4:45. (Any students involved in sports can join in November after the sports season). The goal will be to prepare a presentation for Winter Concert.
