English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The English as an Additional Language (EAL) Department supports multilingual learners as they develop the English language skills needed to fully engage in academic learning and school life. Through a collaborative, inclusive, and student-centered approach, EAL teachers partner with classroom teachers to provide targeted language instruction that helps students build proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Grounded in research-based practices and responsive to each student’s language development needs, the EAL program promotes both language acquisition and academic success while valuing and celebrating the linguistic and cultural diversity students bring to our community.

EAL Support

The EAL Department provides a range of supports designed to help students access the curriculum and develop confidence as English language users. Support may include co-teaching within the classroom, small-group instruction, targeted language interventions, language assessments, progress monitoring, and consultation with teachers and families. EAL teachers collaborate closely with grade-level teams and other Student Support and Services departments to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations, scaffolds, and opportunities for language growth. Through ongoing assessment and data-informed decision-making, the department works to ensure each multilingual learner is supported in achieving both language proficiency and academic success.
