1. Library Environment
· The library is open for staff and students daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
· Families are welcome to visit the library from 3:30–4:00 p.m. daily, except on Wednesdays. An adult must accompany and supervise their child while in the library.
· Students in Grade 3 and above may visit the library independently during recess for a variety of purposes such as quiet reading, checking out or returning books, completing schoolwork, research, creative activities such as drawing or simple crafts, building puzzles, and more.
· Students are expected to maintain a calm and principled atmosphere.
· Voices should be kept low. Disruptive behaviour is not permitted.
· Library materials, furniture, and equipment must be used respectfully and returned to their proper places.
· Food and drinks should not be brought into the library to maintain clean and safe resources.
2. Technology
· All technology use must follow school policy.
· A curated list of approved digital resources and appropriate learning games is available for students who wish to use technology during recess.
3. Book Check Out
· Students may borrow up to 3 books at a time.
· The standard loan period is 2 weeks.
· Books may be renewed for an additional 2 weeks, provided they are brought to the library for renewal, and no one else has requested them.
· Students with overdue books will not be able to borrow additional items until the overdue materials are returned or renewed.
4. Lost or Damaged Books
· Students and families are responsible for paying the replacement cost of any lost or significantly damaged library books. This helps the library maintain a strong, current collection for all users.
· If a lost book fee is not paid, the school may withhold the student’s report card until the fine is resolved.
