Elie was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec—the heart of Canada’s Francophone culture—where the French language became an integral part of her identity from an early age. She later pursued her post-secondary studies at the University of Toronto, completing both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Teaching.
Elie began her teaching career in Toronto, Ontario, working within a public Francophone school board. Today, she proudly serves as the Head of the French Department for Grades 3 to 12. As a certified DELF examiner from A1 to C2, she is well equipped to support students through all levels of French language acquisition.
Elie’s love for the French language is at the heart of her teaching. She hopes to inspire students to develop their own passion for languages and to see them as valuable tools—just as French has been for her. She encourages curiosity beyond the classroom and fosters a safe space where students feel confident to take risks and speak openly. Elie carefully selects resources that connect to her students’ interests. She aims to help students build resilience and strength throughout the learning process, supporting them to embrace mistakes as opportunities for growth.
Outside the classroom, Elie enjoys connecting with nature through hiking, camping, and practicing yoga—activities that inspire her own sense of balance, reflection, and open-mindedness. Whether exploring a new trail or a new text, Elie believes in cultivating a lifelong love of learning and an appreciation for the interconnectedness of language, self, and the world.
