Gretchen Orwig is the Lower MYP Coordinator for ISNS. Her focus is on educating and nurturing students in Grades 6 through 8. She is an experienced educator with a passion for enriching student learning and promoting teacher development. She holds a Master's degree in Education, which she earned from Rockhurst University in 2007. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Linguistics from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
With an extensive background in education, Gretchen has seven years of experience as an IB MYP educator, with an nine-year tenure in international education. Presently in her fifth year at ISNS, her professional journey has taken her across diverse cultures and communities. Originally from Missouri, USA, Gretchen's unique perspective has been influenced by her 13-years living in Asia. This exposure has nurtured her ability to view the world from many perspectives.
Gretchen's educational philosophy revolves around the belief that joy and a sense of community are fundamental to effective learning. She believes that the best learning occurs within a supportive environment, surrounded by compassionate individuals. Her commitment to service is underscored by her dedication to fostering teacher growth, as she firmly believes that empowered educators contribute to enhanced student experiences.
