Since 2020, John Ottmann has been teaching Theatre Arts at ISNS in Shenzhen. Mr. Ottmann has a broad range of experience in live performance, and teaching. Mr. Ottmann is fortunate to have performed professionally as an actor, and ballet & contemporary dancer on international stages around the world. For the past 30 years, Mr. Ottmann has been committed to the field of Dance, Theatre and Arts Education. Passionate about mentorship, John has also held the roles teacher, coach, writer, rehearsal director, artistic director and dramaturge for performing arts schools, professional companies and productions across Canada.
Mr. Ottmann obtained a Master’s Degree in Dramaturgy at York University in Toronto, Canada. He has also taught in the performing arts departments of York University, Ryerson University, and Centennial College in Toronto. Through his professional practice, he developed the Constellation Points Method (CPM) - a mind and body technique for theatre artists and students. John is proud to have been invited to present CPM at the Brain, Body, Movement and Cognition conference held at Harvard University in 2018.
John, his wife, Martine, and daughter work and study in Shenzhen. Along side his teaching, John performs as an actor in the Domesticated Humans improv group, and the Couch Potatoes playback theatre group.
