Monica Ramakers

PYP Visual Art Teacher

Monica Ramakers taught elementary school in Canada for 25 years. Originally from the Netherlands, she moved to Canada at the age of 11. She earned her BA from the University of Guelph, where she majored in Visual Art and Drama. She graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Education from the Artist in the Community Program.

Monica ran an art and drama children’s camp that focused on Art en Plein Air and directed Shakespearean shows for over 15 years. She is known for creating joyful and inspiring classroom environments. She is grateful to have mentored and inspired young people for decades, many of whom have become artists, actors, and teachers themselves.

Monica loves being out in nature, especially hiking, cycling, skiing, and paddleboarding. She is eager to share her experience and passion for the arts with students globally and is thrilled to join the Art Department at ISNS.
