Samuel Lee

MYP/DP Chemistry Teacher

Dr. Samuel Lee is a Malaysian educator and educational researcher who grew up in Singapore. Originally trained as a chemical engineer at Newcastle University, he discovered that he found greater fulfilment in helping young people understand science. This led him to pursue a career in education, combining his scientific background with his passion for making complex ideas accessible to students.

Dr. Lee began teaching in Singapore in 2013 and moved to China in 2016. He has taught Chemistry across the IB Diploma Programme (DP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), IGCSE, A-Level, and Singapore-Cambridge curricula, and joined ISNS in 2022. Beyond the classroom, he is an IB DP Chemistry examiner, CAIE A-Level Chemistry examiner, IB Workshop Leader, and IB Evaluation Leader.

Dr. Lee holds a Master of Education in Advanced Teaching and completed his Doctor of Education in 2026, specialising in educational research. His research interests centre on teaching and learning in international education, particularly student engagement and conceptual understanding. He believes that Chemistry should be challenging without being intimidating and strives to create a classroom where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and developing as independent learners.

Outside the classroom, Dr. Lee enjoys badminton, swimming, travelling, exploring new technologies, and spending time with his family. He is also actively involved in coaching badminton at ISNS.
