Arrival and Dismissal Expectations:

  • The campus will open at 7:40. Teachers and other staff members will begin their supervision duties at that time in order to ensure child safety.

  • Family members of EY students (K2-K5) are encouraged to bring their child into the campus in the morning to help them adjust to school. Please encourage independence as much as possible. We have staff outside to assist your child. Parking for prolong periods is discouraged to support the flow of traffic.

  • Family members of PYP students (G1-5) should avoid entering campus during arrival unless absolutely necessary. Please encourage independence as much as possible. We have staff outside to assist your child.

  • Families of EY children should not wait on campus until children are settled or enter from the playground to begin classes. We have many staff members on duty to help the students. This will help with the traffic, as less cars will be parked for a long time.

  • Families should not wait at the gate for long periods of time to avoid blocking bus entry and to avoid parking for long periods of time. When students enter the gate, we have many staff members who can direct them to the appropriate location.

  • Please do not send your child to school if they are ill. This will ensure the safety and health of our entire student community.

  • If your child is injured and requires crutches or a wheelchair, families must provide this equipment. Parents must make arrangements with the school before arrival if the child needs any type of assistance throughout the day.

  • Early access or after-hours access requires a faculty or staff member to meet anyone arriving at the gate and announce to the guards the purpose.

Ο  Exceptions to this may include:

n High school students enrolled in athletic conditioning activities

n  Children of faculty and staff who live on campus

n  Children of faculty and staff who live off campus

  • EY, G1, G2 and G3 families may go to their child’s homeroom during dismissal time to pick them up. This is not a time to engage the teachers with suggestions or concerns. Please do so in a scheduled meeting.

  • Families in Grades 4 – 5 may wait in the lobby.

  • Children not in after-school activities or tutoring must leave campus by 3:45pm (Wednesday, 2:35pm). Please ensure that you arrive on time to collect your child.

  • Children in after school activities or tutoring must be picked up promptly, so please be aware of the varied dismissal times for those activities. Most activities end at 4:30. However, performing arts and sports activities usually go until 5:00 or 5:30pm.

  • Families are not permitted to stay on campus after school to use the playground or soccer field.

  • Family members MUST wear their lanyard on campus. As the weeks progress, we will be stricter on this point. Child safety is our highest priority.

Traffic expectations

  • Please remember to follow common traffic laws when dropping off or picking up your child. Traffic police and local law enforcement will be present during our morning arrival.

  • The guards are there to protect us and have strict guidelines to enforce from the local police. Any misconduct towards guards will be reported to the Head of School.

  • The school reserves the right to involve traffic police or local authorities when necessary, particularly in cases where traffic laws are not followed and a potentially unsafe situation could arise.

  • Please do not block lanes or park for a long time.

  • Avoid executing U turns in front of the campus.

  • Parking is prohibited on the entrance gate side of the campus (Longyuan Road and Longzhu Second Road). Parking is appropriate opposite the campus, however discouraged for prolonged periods of time.

  • When dropping off your child, please ensure that they are able to exit the car quickly to avoid traffic back up.

  • Avoid changing lanes quickly or excessively. We have many accidents in front of the campus as the result of this.

  • Drive slowly and watch for children/adults at all times.

  • Pay attention to buses and non-school traffic, as this can be unpredictable.

  • Use the crosswalks for safety at all times. ISNS is not liable for injuries or accidents that happen as the result of not using the crosswalk.
